It teaches students how to describe and apply physiology in the management of normal pregnancy, birth and puerperium, and how to demonstrate competency in providing respectful and evidence based maternity care for women during the antenatal, intranasal and postnatal period. It also educates readers on how to uphold the fundamental human rights of individuals when providing midwifery care, promote physiologic labor and birth, and conduct normal childbirth, provide evidence based essential newborn care, apply nursing process approach in caring for women and their families and much more.
