Adult Health Nursing-2 with Integrated Pathophysiology (Medical Surgical Nursing-2) (4th Semester)

This course insures that its students are able to do the following, on its completion- apply nursing process and critical thinking in delivering holistic nursing care with selected Medical and Surgical conditions; students will also be able to explain the aetiology, pathophysiology, manifestations, diagnostic studies, treatments and complications of selected common medical and surgical disorders and perform complete health assessments to establish a database for providing quality patient care and integrate the knowledge of diagnostic tests into the process of data collection. They will also be able to identify diagnoses, list them according to priority and formulate nursing care plan and perform nursing procedures skillfully and apply scientific principles while giving comprehensive nursing care to patients, etc...This course helps students in integrating their knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, nutrition and pharmacology in caring for patients experiencing various medical and surgical disorders and identifying common diagnostic measures related to the health problems with emphasis on nursing assessment and responsibilities. It also ensures that students will learn to maintain a safe environment for both patients as well as healthcare personnel in the hospital.
